WHEN: To be held: Saturday, July 12th 2008 @ Emma Long Metropolitan Park in Austin, TX from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM, but feel free to stay as long as the park is open!
WHO: All Great Wall families from all stages of the process are invited (and encouraged!) to attend! Pack your suitcases and head on down to Texas for fun in the sun! You'll have the opportunity to meet Great Wall Headquarters Staff as well as fellow adoptive families!
WHAT: Great Wall has reserved two huge picnic areas overlooking Lake Austin. There will be places to sit, but if you're not coming by plane, you might want to bring along your lawn chairs, sun umbrellas, yard games, blankets, swimsuits, sun block and anything else you need for a day in the park. If you wish to have additional drinks, please plan to bring your own coolers.
WHERE: Emma Long Park (1600 City Park Road, Austin, Texas 78730-4201) comprises 1,000 beautiful acres dotted with oak, ash and juniper trees, with almost a mile of lakefront along Lake Austin. Click Here for Directions!
FOOD: A BBQ lunch will be provided from Smokey Mo's BBQ, an Austin favorite. They serve up the juiciest brisket ever! So if you're a Texan, a Texan wanna-be, or just love the taste of great food, this is definitely one of the best barbeque places in town! We'll also have a vegetarian option, for anyone that requires it.

EVENT ACTIVITIES: The park's amenities include two boat ramps, a fishing dock, protected swimming area, rest rooms, showers, sandpit volleyball courts and a concession stand open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. There's also a 4.5-mile trail for hiking and biking. We'll have lots of activities for the kids including arts & crafts, face painting, moonwalk, and more!
RECREATION: There are many recreational activities around the lake areas of Austin. (There are two lakes, Lake Austin and Lake Travis) If you would like to rent a boat or jet skis I have provided a list of the following boat rental agents. Reminder: the picnic will be held on Lake Austin at Emma Long Metro Park so you should request they deliver your boat to the boat ramp at Emma Long Metro Park.

LODGING: There are also a handful of fun hotels, B& B's and resorts located around the Lake Travis area, which is close to the park as well. I have listed the following resources if any of you are planning on making a vacation out of this reunion. There will be no discount for families wishing to stay in these hotels and resorts as this is their busiest time of year. On that note, please make your reservations as soon as possible as they are already beginning to book up that weekend!
