Letter From The President

Dear Great Wall and Children of All Nations Families,

November has undoubtedly brought some wonderful and exciting events to pass - we received several referrals for our families adopting from Ethiopia, sent a team of staff to help with ongoing Hague Convention implementation in Rwanda (see our Program Updates for more details) and continue to work on opening new programs around the globe!

This month, we are happy to announce the launch of our newest country program of Uganda! This country is truly one of great need, with a long history of warfare and civil unrest, resulting in the orphaning of many children of Uganda. Our hope for this program is that we will be able to find homes for these beautiful orphans with bright eyes, sweet smiles and hopeful hearts. Our staff, including myself, had the honor of visiting the country to organize a strong, trustworthy team to be our liaisons in Uganda, as well as visiting with several orphanages to meet the children and caretakers. The children greeted us with exclamations of "Mommy!" They are so eager to go home with forever families! Please visit the new Uganda section of our CAN website to learn about adopting from Uganda!

We are looking forward to the upcoming new year and are diligently planning events and workshops for 2011. This month, we were thrilled to host our third ICAN China Waiting Child Seminar! Our experienced Waiting Child Team led an informative session here in Austin, TX, about the Waiting Child adoption process for China and a range of topics relating to Waiting Child adoption, capped by a panel discussion with families who have completed their families through this route. Especially now that the CCAA's Special Focus adoption program is in place, more families are opening their hearts to these Waiting Angels, many of whom have been waiting the longest for loving arms.

With the season of giving right before us, please consider these children across the world while finishing up your holiday gift shopping. If you are thinking about, or are already in the process of adopting a child, your generosity could very well benefit the orphanage of your future children.

Check out our Charity Programs section for highlights on orphanages and good-will projects to which you can contribute, include the crèche (orphanage) we work with in Haiti, which is in need of so much in the aftermath of multiple natural disasters. In China, we continue to gather funds for our Libraries of Love and Gifts of Love donation programs. In addition, we are raising funds to assist a Ugandan orphan school. Any donations you can give in this season will emotionally and practically enrich the lives of children as they continue to wait for their forever families.
