The number of families adopting from China has increased in the last decade as thousands of Chinese children join American families. Parents from all backgrounds have adopted from China, including celebrities, politicians and entrepreneurs. The following list of adoptive parents represents only a fraction of the celebrities that have grown their families through Chinese adoption.

Leroy Chiao, American astronaut

Leroy Chiao- Selected by NASA in January 1990, Chiao became an astronaut in July 1991. He is qualified for flight assignment as a mission specialist. Dr. Chiao voted in the 2004 United States presidential election from aboard the International Space Station, making him the first American to vote in a presidential election while in space.In an interview with a reporter from the China Daily newspaper, Chiao revealed that his radio call name in space is "Shandong," from the name of the province in China where he still has family members. Chiao is also the recipient of the 100 Most Influential Asian Americans in the 1990's Award from A-Magazine (2000). The Chiao's began their adoption with Great Wall in 2005.

Steven Curtis Chapman- Steven Curtis Chapman is one of the biggest legends in contemporary Christian music. He and his wife Mary Beth live in Nashville, Tennessee and have three biological children, (Emily Elizabeth, Caleb Stevenson, Will Franklin) and three adopted daughters from China (Shaohannah Hope Yan, Stevey Joy Ru, Maria Sue Chapman). They are also recognized advocates for adoption. Together, they founded Shaohannah's Hope, a charity organization which offers grants to qualifying families to help defray the cost of adopting, at home and abroad. Both were awarded the Angels of Adoption award by a Congressional Committee for adoption in Washington, D.C.

    Samuel Dale Brownback (born September 12, 1956) is a Senator from Kansas. He is a member of the Republican Party and is considered by many political pundits to be a likely candidate for President in his party's primaries in 2008. Brownback is married to the former Mary Stauffer, heiress to a Topeka newspaper fortune. The couple are the parents of five children (two of them adopted from China).
