Hello! My name is Dillon and I am 5 years old. I had some trouble with my kidneys when I was younger but some nice doctors performed surgery and I am doing much better now! I recovered well from surgery and my friends from Great Wall that met me say I am developing on target with my peers. But at the time my file was prepared I was able to roll over from my back to stomach and could prop myself up using my forearms, and I was lifting my head and looking around on my own. When I’d hear a sound I’d turn around and see where it was coming from. Like most babies I was a big fan of sucking my fingers at that time. I could understand facial expressions of my caretakers and when I was praised for something I would smile, but when I was criticized for something I would pout. I really like being cuddled by my caretakers and when I someone calls my name I reach out my arms to them so they’ll pick me up. I can understand a lot of what my caretakers are saying to me, like for example when my caretakers praise me for something I do I am very happy and smile, but when they tell me I’ve done something wrong I get sad and cry. I know how to sit up by myself, how to crawl, how to stand up by myself and I can walk when my caretaker holds one of my hands. I am babbling a lot and I am imitating my caretakers. I am completely deaf in one ear and I might have a little hearing in my other ear, but I don’t have access to the technology or resources that kids with hearing loss in the United States do, so therefore my language skills are significantly delayed. I hope I find a Forever Family that can either help me to gain some more hearing or will help me learn sign language so that I can communicate my thoughts and feelings. I will probably not receive schooling in China due to my lack of hearing and because I live in a more rural area, so the only chance I have to get to go to school will be if I’m adopted by an American family. I tend to be shy and mostly interact with my foster parents because of my inability to communicate due to my hearing loss. I am an active little boy who likes to climb up high and explore the world around me! I like to play with toys and I especially like to play with my foster parents. Meet Camden, GWCA’s Sponsored Star for February!

Hi there! My name is Camden and I am 5 years old! I was born with CHD (TOF) and a cleft lip, but some nice doctors performed surgery to fix my cleft lip and I feel much better now! I haven’t had surgery to help with my heart yet, but I don’t let that hold me back. My doctors say that my condition is stable, so I can run around and play just like my friends! My file indicates that I’m currently in preschool and that I’m doing well. I don’t have any mobility delays and I’m on target cognitively!

What is a Sponsored Star?

On the 1st of each month, Great Wall China Adoption will feature one of the kiddos from our Orphanage Partnerships as our monthly “Sponsored Star!” As our Sponsored Star, that child will be provided a $2,000 grant towards their adoption fees! Each of the kiddos selected will be a Special Focus child,  meaning they have not found their Forever Family yet due to their age, or the degree of their needs. Together, we can find loving homes for these amazing kids!

We are THRILLED to announce that a family has begun submitting their paperwork to bring this beautiful girl home forever!

As a younger kiddo with more minor needs, her file was considered LID, meaning her family had to have their dossier submitted before they could see her file. Since she was at one of the orphanages that GWCA is partnered with, we received her file as soon as it was prepared so that we could find her a Forever Family.

We are so happy for her and her new family, and we can’t wait to see them come home!
