6 More Kids Home!
We are so incredibly happy to announce that over the past few weeks, SIX KIDS from our China adoption program have come home with their Forever Families! While the wait time for many international adoption programs continues to grow, China’s Waiting Child adoption program makes it possible for families to welcome a new member in less than one year. Thanks to this quick process and the hard work of each one of these families, these kiddos are now safely home in their parents’ loving arms. Congratulations to each and every one of these families from all of us at GWCA!
Just as no two adoption journeys are the same, each of these kids came to be matched with their Forever Families in their own way. While some of these kids’ files were considered Special Focus, meaning their families were able to be matched with them right away, other kids’ files were LID, meaning their families had to have their dossiers logged in before they could learn more about them.

I Found My Family!
We are so incredibly happy to announce that a family was recently matched with this adorable girl! Congratulations from all of us at GWCA and CAN, we are so excited to continue following your journey as you take one step closer to bringing her home forever.
The Matching Process
Despite her young age, this sweet girl’s file was considered Special Focus (rather than LID) due to her medical needs. This allowed her family to be matched with her right away, rather than having to wait until their dossier was sent to China.
All of the kids on GWCA’s Waiting Child photo listing are considered Special Focus, meaning families are able to be matched with them at any point in the adoption process. If you are interested in learning more about any of the children that we’re currently advocating for or the needs that we commonly see among Special Focus children, visit our Waiting Child photo listing or contact our China Adoption Specialists today!

China Waiting Child Adoption
Our China adoption program allows families to be matched with Special Focus children at any point in the process, making the adoption journey as a whole relatively quick! We receive new children’s files each week, both from our orphanage partnerships and from the Shared List, which provides our families with the opportunity to review multiple files until they find a child that they feel would be a good fit. I Found My Family!
Hooray! We’re so delighted to announce that one of the families in our China adoption program has begun submitting their paperwork to bring this little guy home FOREVER!
It is so incredible to watch the spark that ignites when our advocate families put their mind to finding a child a loving family. This little guy will be joining a family of these Orphan Warriors, who have not only adopted through our China adoption program in the past, but who have hosted multiple kiddos in order to help them find families of their own. We are so excited for him and his new family, and we are looking forward to following their journey as they work towards bringing him home.
Congratulations from all of us at GWCA and CAN!

I Found My Family!

Hooray! This beautiful girl has been matched with a family that is working hard to bring her home Forever. Congratulations to her and her new Forever Family from all of us at GWCA!
Since her file is considered LID, the family that is matched with her had to have their dossier logged in before they could learn more about her! Our LID track provides families with the opportunity to be matched with younger kiddos with more minor or correctable needs. Learn more about the difference between LID and Special Focus below! If you’re interested in learning how you can join our LID track and start your journey towards being matched, contact our matching specialists today!
LID vs. Special Focus
LID
Non-Special Focus kids are often referred to as LID, meaning “Log In Date.” While families can be matched with a Special Focus child at any point in the process, they must log their dossier in prior to reviewing files for LID children. These kids are typically age 1-4, and have more minor or correctable needs. For families that are open to a Waiting Child with minor or correctable needs, the LID track is a great alternative to other international adoption programs where the referral time for a healthy child can be several years.

Special Focus
Most of the children in China’s Waiting Child program, are classified as Special Focus. This means that they are considered more difficult to place either because of their age range, or needs. While the idea of special needs can be a bit overwhelming to families, it is important to realize that many needs fall on a spectrum. This means that two children whose files indicate the same need can be affected in completely different ways. One example of this is cerebral palsy. While some of the children that we have seen with cerebral palsy are wheelchair bound, others are able to run, jump, and climb just like any other kid. As such, it is very important for families to thoroughly research a variety of special needs before ruling anything out!

Four Kids Home from China!
This #ForeverFamilyFriday we’re so happy to announce that FOUR kids in our China Waiting Child adoption program recently joined their Forever Families! Of these four kids, two previously to the United States with our Orphan Hosting program, and we are so happy that this time they will be returning forever. Congratulations to all four of these kiddos and their Forever Families from all of us at GWCA and CAN!
Throughout all the ups and downs of an adoption process, one of the things that helps our families stay focused is the thought of their Gotcha Day. This is the day that all of their hard work pays off, and they finally get to hold their child in their arms. While the wait time for some international adoption programs can be lengthy–particularly for families looking to be matched with a younger medically healthy child–the entire process of adopting a Waiting Child from China can often be completed from start to finish in just one year. This shorter wait time means families are that much closer to reaching their Gotcha day and bringing their child home forever.

We are so DELIGHTED to announce that a family has begun submitting their paperwork to bring this little buy home!
Despite the fact that this little guy just turned one year old, his file was considered Special Focus, meaning his family was able to review his information prior to logging their dossier in. Now that they’ve submitted their initial paperwork to be matched with him, they will be hard at work over the next several months to complete their dossier.

God is so good and has answered so many specific prayer requests. The transition has been amazing so far with DJ. When we arrived at the hotel, both of us were a little unsure of what was going on. The orphanage staff told me that he had been asking every few minutes when I was arriving because he was ready to go. So much for less luggage, he came home with 2 backpacks and another bag full of toys! I need to buy another suitcase already. He had a whole backpack of just snacks for me. He told the staff all morning that no one else could eat the snacks but his mom! When we first started talking between us and the translators, he started to cry. He quickly told my guide that they were happy tears because he was so glad to finally have a family. He said that he has wanted a mom and dad of his own, forever. He has totally won my heart and already has me wrapped around his finger.
After months of work and prayers, I was reunited today with SC. before SC went back to China, Wayne and I told him that every time he saw the moon, he was to remember that we were in America praying for him. We were not able to tell DJ that (as we were not his host family), but we were praying for him as well. God has continually been gracious and merciful to us throughout this entire process. Today was no exception. I was blown away once again by God’s grace and compassion. He truly loves these children.
Seeing SC’s finding place was special, but it also stirred up a ton of emotions. I happened to see a mom feeding her small baby and I wondered what went through SC’s parent’s minds when they sat him in an area they knew he would be found and could receive help. They had cared for their sweet baby boy for three months. They left a note on him. I still have to have someone translate it for me all the way, but they explained that he needed help with his foot. I cannot imagine the anguish they experienced leaving behind this baby they loved in order for him to get the medical help he needed.
