Sixty Kids – One Common Need
All of the kids in our China adoption program are considered “Waiting Children.” They have been given this designation because they are considered more difficult to place based on the fact that they are either older or they have a medical need of some sort. Our China adoption specialists advocate for these kids each and every day, reviewing their medical files with potential families, requesting updates from their orphanages, and reaching out to advocacy groups that are familiar with their needs. No two kids’ files are alike, and yet they all have one thing in common – the need for a loving Forever Family.
Our China adoption specialists are currently advocating for OVER SIXTY KIDS on our Waiting Child photo listing. While some of these kids are as young as 1 year old, the majority of the kids are older, and have been waiting for quite some time.
If you’re interested in learning more about any of the kids that we’re currently advocating for, or if your family has an interest in adopting a child with a specific need, our China adoption specialists would be happy to speak to you! While families in the China Waiting Child adoption program are allowed to be matched with a child at the beginning of their adoption journey, they also have the option of starting on their paperwork while our matching specialists continue to help them search for their child.

I Found My Family!
We are beyond thrilled to announce that this incredible boy has a family who is currently working their way through the adoption process to bring him home forever!
After participating in our China Orphan Hosting program this past winter, he had to return to China with the rest of the kids in the program, and we were so sad to see him go. Since then, countless #OrphanWarriors have come together to advocate on his behalf, and their hard work certainly paid off!
We are so happy to know that this sweet kiddo will soon be coming back to the United States with his Forever Family, and we can’t wait to follow the rest of his journey home. Congratulations to him and his new family from all of us at GWCA and CAN!
The Difference that Hosting Makes
When many families first hear about our Orphan Hosting program, they struggle with the concept of bringing a child to the United States and showing them the love of a family only to send them back home weeks later. These are certainly complex matters to handle, both for the child being hosted and for the host family. However, when you see the difference that hosting can make in helping older children find homes before they age out, the pros of the program far outweigh the cons.
While many of these kids’ files have been sitting on lists for months or even years, constantly overlooked due to their age, our hosting program gives families the opportunity to meet them, get to know their personalities, and help them to find a family of their very own. If you’re interested in learning how you can participate in our Orphan Hosting program or how you can adopt a child who has previously been hosted, contact GWCA today!

URGENT: Aging Out – Grant Available!

Jonathan currently has adoption grants totaling over $10,000!
(UPDATE: Jonathan’s Sponsored Star grant has been extended through the month of March!)
When an orphan ‘ages out’ in China, they lose their chance to be a part of a family, to be safe, and to be loved. At the young age of fourteen, children are deemed ineligible for adoption, and their hope for a bright future all but vanishes. This is what Jonathan will be faced with unless he’s able to find a family who can bring him home by his fourteenth birthday this September.
Jonathan is an incredible kid. You can see this not only in the love that his caretakers have for him, but in the fact that countless communities have come together to advocate on his behalf with the hope that he will find a family before he ages out. With all of these efforts combined, Jonathan currently has a total of around $10,700 in grants available towards his adoption fees!
(Jonathan’s Orphanage Donation Fee of approximately $5,700 has been waived, a private donation of $3,000 has been made by a generous benefactor, and through the month of February, he has an agency specific grant of $2,000 as GWCA’s Sponsored Star.)
Despite the fact that Jonathan is completely deaf in both ears, he is able to communicate flawlessly using Chinese sign language. It’s clear that his cognitive development is right on target, as he’s able to quickly solve math problems, write in Chinese, and even write about 40 simple words in English! He is a great student who is helpful around the classroom and very loved by his teachers.
In his spare time, Jonathan enjoys playing sports. He’s particularly fond of jump rope, ping-pong and badminton!
Jonathan has told his caretakers that he wants to be adopted, and regularly asks if it will be possible for him to have a mom and dad. If you’re interested in learning more about this AMAZING kid and the financial assistance that’s currently available towards his adoption fees, contact GWCA today!
